Current high school freshman, sophomores and juniors for the 2020-2021 academic year are invited to apply to be a Youth Diplomat. Applications will be accepted from public, private, and charter high schools in the City of Chicago and suburbs. There is no fee to participate in Youth Diplomats.
Youth Diplomats meetings will be reserved for hands-on learning opportunities categorized by workshops, volunteering, and collaborations with our visiting Youth Leadership groups. Youth Diplomats will also engage in listening to speeches and attending lectures and workshops by Chicagoland's academics, government officials, and other community leaders; these activities are TBD for the time being. Youth Diplomats will also be eligible to participate in an experiential-learning visit to Washington D.C. in late-June/early-July of 2021 to learn about government-facilitated public diplomacy and intercultural exchange (given that it's safe to do so). Priority will be given to Youth Diplomats based on attendance, engagement, and participation in Youth Diplomats and WorldChicago events.
